One More Parenting Tid Bit
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009You know you’re a parent when your son says ‘more triangles?’ and you proceed to wash your fingers and pick triangle cheese crackers out of the Chex Mix bag!
Parenting Tid Bit
Wednesday, July 15th, 2009You know you’re a parent when you heat up your lunch twice and still end up eating cold food… Not a complaint just an observation.
3 Years Old!
Monday, May 25th, 2009Happy Birthday to my beautiful son. You bring more joy to me and your family than can be expressed in words. I can’t wait to see what the future brings…
And how did we finish off this wonderful birthday weekend…? By request, sliced grapes, animal crackers & a private showing of Ratatouille. After a warm bath, more grub (strawberries with yogurt) & a little Deluxe Marble Race play time SD and I chit chatted about seeing the ducks earlier, running around with Mom at Bailey Wick park the previous day and seeing Grandma. Our conversation mostly entailed him repeating keywords that came out of my mouth but from a Father’s point of view that is a conversation with my 3 year old Son. 15 minutes later the little guy was in a deep sleep probably dreaming about all the adventures to come with the first signs of morning light.
Never stop dreaming Sebastian.
Love,
Dada

Thank you little man…
Attention!
Friday, January 16th, 2009At 2 1/2 plus years of age Sebastian has recently been picking up words and sentances from people and movies like some kind of automated human recording device. There are a lot of funny examples and luckily we have been able to lock down the occassional potty mouth so there haven’t been any shocking outbursts… yet.
Ratatouille has become one of SD’s favorite movies. And though he refers to it as ‘Mouse Movie’ (said very quickly so that it sounds like one word) we always know what he means when we start hearing ‘Mouse Movie, Mouse Movie, Mouse Movie’. There is a scene in Gusteau’s restaurant where the character Linguine stands in front of the kitchen staff to give a speech and he calls everyone in a circle by saying ‘attention’! Well, for whatever reason this has caught on with Sebastian and at any given time during the day you may see him hoist himself up onto a chair or the couch and in his boyish way shout out ‘attention attention’ as to summon us to a meeting. We are still waiting to see what all the hype is about as he has yet to get into the meat and potatoes of what he has to say!
Ah kids…
Hey Baby!
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009So they always say ‘watch what you say around your kids’, ‘don’t curse’ etc… Sebastian has been going up to his Mom for about a month and a half now and saying ‘hey baby’! hahaha I wonder where he heard that from…
Recently SD has been waking up at about 6 am and coming downstairs to see if there are any signs of life in the house. He will always come over to my side of the bed and try and lean up as close as he can get to me and scream out ‘hey baby’! Yes, that is my new wake up call. It never fails to put a smile on my face and how can you resist pulling the little guy into bed.
So today while picking Sebastian up at preschool, Ms. Valerie told me that he has been saying ‘hey baby’ to the teachers! hahaha This one is smooth already and he doesn’t even know it…
We Are In Red Alert Mode!
Saturday, January 3rd, 2009Horse head blankie has been M.I.A. since early in the A.M. and if not for horse head blankie backup we would be calling in the blankie crisis management team. Alicia & I have turned the house upside down to no avail though we both know that lurking in some corner or stuffed in the back of one of the cabinets is a lonely and terrified baby blankie!
I tried to my best abilities to put Sebastian down with a stand in, Blue Bear. It seemed to work as I slid out of his room giving a smile and wave as I always do… Before my foot hit step number two on the staircase I heard a bone screeching scream and a thud as his leg landed square against the side of the wall. That was clearly a blue bear protest! Believing the little guy would calm down and eventually fade off into lala land was wishful thinking and foolish at best…
The eventual solution was the one I had been dreading and hoping against. As I dug through the dirty laundry pile all I could think about was the end game. Yes his freshly washed bed sheets may get quickly tainted again with funk but if that’s what it takes to get today’s nap in well then so be it…
Sleep tight buddy…
Merry Christmas!
Thursday, December 25th, 2008Merry Christmas everyone.
So SD is a little more in tune with the whole Christmas thing this year. It is still soon to really explain the true meaning of Christmas but he certainly understands that our modern celebration involves delicious food and treats as well as colorfully wrapped presents. Also the lights hanging outside our home and the window candles seem to interest Sebastian very much and he can often be heard saying ‘Christmas lights’ & ‘Christmas bulbs’ in his own cute accent every once in a while when the thought enters his mind!
There are wonderful packages for the kids from up north which include cool clothes (Emi sent down the Columbia University gear!) and a whole bunch of toys and cute and cuddly items for Clover. To name a few Mr. Potato Head, a cool Jacobs ladder knick knack, a neat wooden module toy car, books and many more fun things!
We decided to skip on a trip to Santa this year after tramatizing the poor fella last year but I think he will be ready again next year.
The crazy house light show on Penny Road entertained us 2 nights this holiday season and we actually got to meet the owner of this absolutely massive display one night as he was handing out candy canes to all the passing onlookers in their vehicles.
All in all we have so much to be thankful for as a family and our children are a constant reminder of the many incredible blessings we have already received in our lives.
